Toyota and Mazda Joint Venture is Heading to Alabama
Plans for a new plant for two leading automobile manufacturers
have been in the works for months. The location of the proposed
new plant had not yet been decided upon or disclosed to the
public. Until now. It was recently reported that a location has
been selected for the plant.
In a recent announcement made by auto manufacturers Toyota Motor
and Mazda Motor, it was made public that Huntsville, Alabama
will be home to the new plant. This is exciting news for the
state of Alabama and for the people living in the Huntsville
vicinity. The plant will bring 4000 new jobs to the area.
Huntsville is not new to manufacturing. There are several
aerospace manufacturing companies already established in
Huntsville and another Toyota plant just a few miles away.
Toyota and Mazda announce that the $1.6 billion automobile plant
will open in 2021.
When the joint venture was first announced several months ago,
many cities and states begin to compete with incentive packages
in hopes of being chosen as the site for the new plant. The
addition of the Toyota and Mazda manufacturing plant in the
state is expected to produce an additional net revenue of
approximately $951 million to Alabama, allowing for the
incentives.
The two giant auto manufacturers expect to produce over 300,000
cars and SUVs per year at the new Huntsville plant. Toyota plans
to produce the popular Corolla and Mazda a new
crossover at the location.
